4月に入り、トランプ大統領は不法移民問題でツイッターを連発している。
本年も、「キャラバン」と呼ばれるホンジュラス出身者を中心とする約1500人の移民の一団が、貧困や暴力問題など、本国で置かれた窮状を訴えるため、メキシコ南部からデモ行進を開始した。
キャラバンによるデモ行進は2010年以降、定期的に開催されていたが、主催者は今年のキャラバンの規模、そして注目度の高さに驚いている。
（最初のキャラバンは2010年、米テキサス州と国境を接するメキシコ・タマウリパス州で中米からの不法移民70人以上が麻薬カルテル「セタス」に誘拐、殺害されたことを受けて開催された。）
その多くは、米国までたどり着き、新しい人生を始めたいと語るが、トランプ米大統領がほぼ毎日のように、キャラバン批判を展開するなか、米国との国境から数百マイル離れた小さなメキシコ南部の集落で、大部分が歩みを止めた。
トランプ大統領のツイッターでの発言要旨は下記の通り。
・ メキシコは不法移民が米国に入らないよう対策を取れ。さもないと、NAFTAをやめる。
・ 米議会はなんとしても、早く、国境法を通せ、さもなければ、国境の壁を作れ。
・ DACAは悪用されている。DACAはもうおしまいだ。
トランプ米大統領は4月3日、不法移民の流入を阻止するため、メキシコとの国境に米軍を派遣する考えを示した。「壁と適切な警備が実現するまで、軍で国境を守る」と述べ、マティス国防長官と協議を進めていることを明らかにした。4月4日にメキシコ国境の警備に州兵部隊を動員するよう国土安全保障省と国防総省に指示する文書に署名した。

Our Border Laws are very weak while those of Mexico & Canada are very strong. Congress must change these Obama era, and other, laws NOW!

なお、キャラバンは動きを止めたが、トランプ大統領はメキシコ政府に感謝した。トランプ政権の努力の結果、不法入国が46年ぶりの低水準だと誇るが、まだまだだとする。
The Caravan is largely broken up thanks to the strong immigration laws of Mexico and their willingness to use them so as not to cause a giant scene at our Border.
Because of the Trump Administrations actions, Border crossings are at a still UNACCEPTABLE 46 year low. Stop drugs!

トランプ米大統領は4月1日、中米からメキシコを通って米国に向かう不法移民に関して「メキシコは何の対策も取っていない」とツイッターで批判した。
「メキシコは人と薬物の大きな流入を食いとめるべきだ。さもなければ彼らのドル箱（cash cow）である北米自由貿易協定（NAFTA）をやめる」と貿易協定の離脱をちらつかせて圧力をかけた。
Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S.
They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!
その後も、メキシコはNAFTAで儲けているので、米議会が対応するまでの間、その金を使って不法移民がメキシコを通って米国に入るのを止めてくれと述べた。
Mexico is making a fortune on NAFTA...They have very strong border laws - ours are pathetic.
With all of the money they make from the U.S., hopefully they will stop people from coming through their country and into ours, at least until Congress changes our immigration laws!
トランプ大統領は野党・民主党にも批判の矛先を向けた。「国境で捕まえた不法移民を釈放する （Catch & Release）ような（民主党の）ばかげた法律のせいで国境警備の職員が正しい仕事をできない」と主張。幼少期に親と不法入国した若者の強制送還を猶予する制度「DACA」 が悪用されているとした。
Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release.
These big flows of people are all trying to take advantage of DACA . They want in on the act!
「DACA」について は、民主党が熱心でないため（メキシコとの壁との交換条件に乗らなかった）もう終わりだとし、壁をつくるべきだとする。
民主党は壁を拒否するので、麻薬と犯罪が入ってくるとする。
DACA is dead because the Democrats didn't care or act, and now everyone wants to get onto the DACA bandwagon... No longer works. Must build Wall and secure our borders with proper Border legislation. Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!
大統領は4月2日、「キャラバン」が米国境を目指していることに怒りを表明し、メキシコ政府や米議会を激しく非難した。
大統領はメキシコに対し、きちんと機能しているメキシコの国境法を使って、キャラバンがメキシコに入るのを止めろと述べる。
Mexico has the absolute power not to let these large "Caravans" of people enter their country. They must stop them at their Northern Border, which they can do because their border laws work, not allow them to pass through into our country, which has no effective border laws.....
一方、議会には、麻薬と不法移民を止めるため、必要なら上院のフィリバスターを無視する核オプション(Nuclear Option) を使ってでも国境法を成立させろとする。
ホンジュラスやメキシコや他の国々は、米国が彼らに寛大であるのに、米国の弱い移民政策を利用して人を送り込んでくる。キャラバンがやってくる。厳しい法をつくり、壁を作るべきだ。
ホンジュラスからのキャラバンは国境に向かっている。キャラバンが到着する前に止めるべきだ。NAFTAはメキシコのドル箱だし、ホンジュラスや他の国々には支援をしているのに。議会よ、すぐ動け！
米国の法は不法移民を送り返すこともできない。メキシコやカナダは厳しい国境法を持つのに、米国の法はオバマ大統領のジョークだ（Obama joke）とし、議会に動け！と述べた。
Congress must immediately pass Border Legislation, use Nuclear Option if necessary, to stop the massive inflow of Drugs and People. Border Patrol Agents (and ICE) are GREAT, but the weak Dem laws don't allow them to do their job. Act now Congress, our country is being stolen!
Honduras, Mexico and many other countries that the U.S. is very generous to, sends many of their people to our country through our WEAK IMMIGRATION POLICIES. Caravans are heading here. Must pass tough laws and build the WALL. Democrats allow open borders, drugs and crime!The big Caravan of People from Honduras, now coming across Mexico and heading to our "Weak Laws" Border, had better be stopped before it gets there. Cash cow NAFTA is in play, as is foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this to happen. Congress MUST ACT NOW!
WE WILL PROTECT OUR SOUTHERN BORDER!
As ridiculous as it sounds, the laws of our country do not easily allow us to send those crossing our Southern Border back where they came from. A whole big wasted procedure must take place. Mexico & Canada have tough immigration laws, whereas ours are an Obama joke. ACT CONGRESS
